My New VV-IX

Post by Boyle6 »

I just purchased a Victor IX for $75.00. I know these are not a rare machine, but this one is really very nice and it sounds great. Also, for what I paid for it I really could not pass it up. I thought the folks on the board would enjoy looking at it. It was made in 1915, it appears to be one of the earlier ones with the decorative foot pads.

Now you have to go out and find the matching record cabinet. They really look neat because the feet fit into a cutout in the cabinet.

It is a very nice one, but actually the feet indicate it's a later one- the earliest have no feet.

Nice for $75.

Is that an early oak XIV in the background? 8-)

You are correct that it is one of the later models. What I was trying to say is that 1915 was the first year they used the legs on the VV-IX. That started using them around serial number 149,000. This one is serial number 149,889. That makes it being produced not all that long after they began putting the legs on them. I did not write that very well...sorry for the confusion.

Adam, good eye on catching the early XIV. I was very fortunate to have found it earlier this year. I was really happy to have found it and have enjoyed playing it immensely.

Now that's a nice find. Those early XIV's are rare enough but to find one in oak :!:

Why don't you take a few more pics sometime and make it a featured phono. I'm sure everyone would like to see it.

The IX looks very nice btw too!
