If you store any lp’s like they show (without a sleeve) in the record compartment, they’ll be soon too scratched up to be worth worrying about the tracking weight!

Looks like a fantasy piece to get the younger crowd going. It’s new, trendy and what’s it called a Victrola? That’s what it’s aimed at. My dad told me years ago that records will make a come back, I didn’t believe him. Now Barnes and Noble, Urban Outfitters, Kohl’s and Bam! All have their new released albums (kids call it vinyl) at 30.00 bucks a pop! The local mall has a Bam! store and these albums in the window with about a dozen of these Crosley Victrola’s.
That is hideous, that fake reproducer ornament has no real functional purpose, kind of like a callous or wart on the foot. They are ok for 78’s, but would not use them on “vinyl”. They have poor tracking and the belt drive servo motors are very finicky. For playing records, better to get a caliphone or a used turntable like a Esoteric. I did fix one of these on my bench for a older lady that thought she really had a Crosley, installed a new belt and cartridge and $ 50.00 later she was out the door.

...or more likely at the clueless grandma type who knows the grandkid wants a record player, sees this thing, and says, "oh, that's just like the old timey record players. Little Smidley will love it for Christmas!" And it's just cheap enough to make it a feasible gift on such occasions.Victrolacollector wrote:Looks like a fantasy piece to get the younger crowd going.
