This Ebay item brings up a curious thought:

It's a Standard Model A machine in pretty rough condition that was recently used as a prop in the film "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". Though the asking price is high at least it's within the bounds of possibility.
My question is- if a real Phonograph collector got this what should be done? I'd certainly get the motor worked on and rebuild the soundbox, but should you even dust the rest of it?
BTW- I doubt he'll get the asking price- the movie was a flop.
Would you restore it?

Re: Would you restore it?
Interesting question Eric,
It is over priced for what it is, but if the prominance is valid, that would offer some value to collectors of movie-ana. To someone who collected both, it might be attractive.
Me, I already have one and would pass.

Why do we need signatures when we are on a first avatar basis?

Overpriced at half that. I just bought one for $300, and the only things needed are some horn cleaning (red horn, extra nice!) , cabinet polishing, motor oiling/greasing, and maybe $1 for new diaphragm gaskets. Otherwise, a Standard is a Standard is a Standard.
