What are your worst basket case resurrections?

Mine was my Canadian Berliner, Featured Phonograph № 139 - Canadian Berliner Type A, (apologizes to those who have already seen this one). What you see in the first image is what I purchased. I had to make a new spring barrel from grey cast iron, traveling arm, (from oak of the correct age), including the hardware as well as some motor parts. The horn was a crumpled wreck that John Duffy brought back to it's former glory, (highly recommended). The cabinet has not been stripped, (just cleaned, repaired and shellacked). The machine plays through a 7" record with power to spare. There are much more original machines out there, but none of them mean as much to me as one that I put myself into.

I hope that this topic doesn’t fade away. I love seeing others projects and learning about their methods and challenges. The task doesn’t have to be monumental.

Magnificent job on the Berliner!

Although I have had the pleasure of working on several machines since completing this project my Columbia Grand is still my favorite "worst basket case resurrection".

Very nice save, Bruce, (and very cool machine too).

It is nice to see what others have brought back from the brink. Big, small, rare or common, what matters is that someone put in the effort, time and care to bring a machine back when most would have parted it out or thrown it away.

Looks amazing Bruce, I have a Columbia Grand I need to finish the restoration on, it is more mechanical restoration at this point . They are beautiful and unique machines.
