Best Freight line to use Shipping a Phonograph??

Post by ticticdok »

I am just curious to the best shipping option anyone has used in shipping a large phonograph/ music box across country. Any good options or companies? Any that anyone would recommend to stay away from?? I'm just curious, I have some that might have to be shipped here in the future...John

I have always used FreightCenter.com to get a list of quotes from national carriers and have had good success with choosing one of the lowest two. You can save roughly 50% if you drop off or pick up at the trucking terminal near the two end points. Or save roughly 25% it can be done at just one end. Otherwise residential to residential pickup/drop-off price is still reasonable. If it’s too heavy to pickup, you need to click the lift-gate box for each end. Use shipping class 125. Insurance is real cheap at about $30.

I checked your profile to see where you are located because I travel between Oregon and Chicago and Oregon to LosAngeles but no luck with knowing your area. Jerry B.

John,

You didn’t mention if you are on the shipping or receiving end. If somebody is shipping to you, and they do not know how to properly pack and palletize a freight shipment, I would recommend using a service such as U-Ship, which will provide you with quotes from private haulers who can offer more specialized services. There was a recent thread on the TMF about this:

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. I'm just trying to see my best options on shipping out. I have several larger items I am trying to be proactive about before I list.
