Re: Interesting New Finds
The Phonograph Monthly Review was a short-lived (1926-32) American version of "The Gramophone"--a magazine aimed toward phonograph enthusiasts, particularly classical music lovers. This was a particularly interesting period, with the issuance of so many previously unrecorded classical pieces (thanks to the newly introduced electrical process). Fascinating reading!

Thank you very much for that.I just did a check and see that the '26 I found is the second issue.I might go back and see if there are anymore in that pile of sheet music.I really just skimmed it fast.As for the reading.....I can't wait to see what's in them.there are some great ads however.

Re: Interesting New Finds
This was supposed to be the American answer to The Gramophone Magazine. R D Darrell got his start as a music critic with this paper. He went on to be the dean of American classical critics: he was still publishing in the 80's. He wrote a rather extensive article about this publication in a mag which I have somewhere and will dig out later.
Tim Gracyk's site has a nice article about the The Phonograph Monthly review.

LSG,that's cool!!!
.I will go back today and look closer in the large pile of sheet music.I would like to find the very first issue. They charged me 3.00 each.I thought....why not!!??
.There was also a 10" "Oxford" in a pile but not for 5.00....or at least not for me.
