Here is a cool little guy. Charles D. Smith makes these repro tinfoil. They are modeled after the published plans Scientific American put out shortly after Edison introduced his Phonograph to the world. It's an interesting history, especially considering Edison didn't pursue any legal action against Scientific American after publishing the plans. The idea was for individuals to construct their own tin foil Phonograph. Charles used the plans to construct this repro. I have enjoyed using it to demonstrate the concept of early tinfoil Phonographs. Although I have never been able to make it work properly. Could be operator error or lack of using proper foil. A cool repro tin foil that won't break the bank. Mostly constructed of wood and brass. Mandrel is made of plaster of paris.
