PENDING: Victrola VE 7-26 X $300 OBO

Post by GregVTLA »

For sale here is a Victrola 7-26 I acquired locally. This machine is in really nice shape, but it's a bit outside my focus area so I'm going to let it go. The radio plays and tunes in to some local stations, but I'm sure it could use some work. The electrically amplified phonograph does not work, but nothing has led me to believe that it can't be fixed by a professional pickup rebuild.

The machine is 95% original (a few screws had to be replaced) and overall is in really nice shape. If you're interested, shoot me an email or PM. Reasonable offers would be considered. I'll even throw in some records if you so desire. Haha!

The machine is located in Germantown, MD but I can hold it for a while if paid for. Wayne delivery could also be considered.

Thanks for looking!

Hi Greg, Let me suggest that you try to take a photo through one of the holes in the back of the speaker. With that serial number it is entirely possible that it may have the Dynamic Retoc speaker instead of the standard 100A speaker used in that model. This makes it much more desirable.

Here are a few pictures of the speaker. After consulting with a friend, it seems this may be the dynamic speaker, but additional information is always welcomed.

Thanks!

Yes that is the very desirable late version VE7-26 Electrola with the Dynamic "Retoc" speaker. If someone wants a good entry level Electrola form 1928 this would be it!

I am looking at Serial number 12,578, so I should have the better speaker, too.

What a lovely Electrola! Don't run it before you fully recap it, etc.

I don't believe these lower voltage Radiola/Electrola's need all new capacitors. There should not be any electrolytic type installed unless they were added later. All newer electrolytic types caps should be replaced. The B+ voltage on the 71-A output tube is much lower than those that use a type 50. There are no paper/foil audio coupling capacitors where leakage current is critical. If the paper caps are still good in the power supply they will likely last another 100 years. Just my opinion, from someone that has run many of these original units for years.

I bought this a while ago. It has a cracked leg so its been stuck on its side for a long time now, not sure how to approach it.
