Victor Schoolhouse and VV-X

Post by Phono-Phan »

I chased down a lead today and come home with a nice oak VV-X and Victor VV-XXV. The Schoolhouse is missing the reproducer which I have one to put on it and the lock mechanism. I think I have one of those also. The Schoolhouse has a spearpoint horn. The decal is on the correct side and not upside down so it has to be correct for this machine. I thought all the later model Schoolhouses used the large smooth oak horns. The horn has a couple of areas where the veneer is loose but not cracked anywhere. Has anyone had success pressing and gluing this veneer back in place. I would like to hear how you clamped it.

Nice acquisitions! Congratulations.

I believe you have a VV-XI there, not a VV-X.

Henry is correct. The XI had a lock; the X did not.

Henry is correct. The XI had a lock; the X did not.
I always check the record storage door profiles. The XI doors are straight across the lower edges, and the cabinet front below them is curved. On the X, the doors themselves have a curved profile along the bottom edges.

You guys are good. I just misread the ID tag. My focus was on the Schoolhouse and paid little attention to the XI.
