My new Gem D has a bit of a power issue, I can only assume it's been wound up tight for many years and now doesn't make it halfway through a 4 minute cylinder, does anyone have a replacement Gem mainspring?
Cheers
Alex

Ron Sitko sells them Alex. I have a D Model Gem that had the same problem. After installing one of Ron's new mainsprings, it plays about 1 ½ 4m records. He does not do email. You need to call him. I can forward his number by PM if you like.

Thanks, He's certainly an option, I've seen his number somewhere but the cost of USA phone calls from the UK is loads, then if he doesn't have PayPal I don't have a cheque book so it's all very complicated, so I was hoping there might be someone who I can contact through email who has a spare springValecnik wrote:Ron Sitko sells them Alex. I'm going to hold off the hunt for a while, after some adjustment the Gem will just about make it through a 4 minute cylinder with it's original spring so I may have dodged the bullet of needing a new spring, so I'll probably put the money towards a Gem horn instead

I would check George Vollema at Great Lakes Phono repair. He is great, ships out fast. Check him out for parts next time. http://www.victroladoctor.com/
