What’s the difference between CREDENZA and VV-830?

Does anyone know when they switched? Any differences? Mine says 830 and I’m getting another that says CREDENZA.

There are also some minor cabinet differences, the 8-30 has a bottom molding that is more decorative. Also the turntable became offset at some point in 8-30 production and a record rack was added to the left hand inside of the cabinet.

Actually the last Credenza's were built with an offset turntable. But not the rails with the felt circles where one would rest the next records to be played. I do believe all Credenza's, Victors internal number 8-2, had the free standing back brackets.

From what I have determined , the purpose of the slight changes of the redesign of the Credenza to be the 8-30 was for having a cabinet they could also use for the VE 8-60 acoustic/amplified model. The new cabinet design allowed an amplifier to be fit below the back of the horn, allowed a power light location in the lower front molding, and allowed a valve to fit between the horn pipe and the tone arm board (in place of a flanged straight pipe).

Some differences include the dimensions of the cabinet, horn, grill, doors, back panels, motor board, feet, and the thickness of the record album shelves. The tone arm support bracket and speed control are different as well. The lid however is the same and is interchangeable. I can’t remember for sure but I believe the lid hinge and knobs went from gold to bronze too. Oh, and the tonearm board of the Credenza can unscrew and be removed whereas the 8-30’s is fixed.

Wayne wins! Many more differences than I could have even come close to remembering. The last 8-30 I had come through was in 2009, so it's been 10 years since I've had one to compare with my Credenza. Either way, both the Credenza and 8-30 are (obviously) great machines.
