Are these earlier Victor's more desirable?

I don't think the Patent Label Victors are more desirable than the Batwings which replaced them.

However, as a fan of 1900s music, I like to buy them and listen to them. The 12" black label ones were very nice quality, and the Victor Dance Orchestra's early sides are usually time-capsules, very evocative of the entire Edwardian period. If you have a 1900s or 1910s Victor phonograph, the old Patent Label records are a must.

One that I like is "I'll Be Waiting In the Gloaming, Genevieve" as sung by Alan Turner, baritone. On an upright Victrola it really showcases a potent voice at its peak, and a fine old song.

Buy 'em if you like 'em! (I wouldn't pass them up.)

I enjoy the pioneer artists, like Billy Murray, Ada Jones, et. al. It was somewhat easy not so many years ago to find clean copies of early Victors for little money 'in the wild' but it seems like that has dried up.

I guess there's still e-bay if you want to pay some sellers asking a 'buy it now' $ 75.00 for one.

I mean original single side records. Batwing pressings have many early recordings used to make new couplings for the two side market.

I enjoy, very much, listening to them on period machines. They also look way cooler than the "batwing" label.
