If you click on the second pic and look at the dealer's plate, it was originally sold in Cape Town, or Johannesburg, South Africa! Wow! A remnant from the old empire!

I hadn't noticed it myself, but it ties in with what the seller told me. Apparently, he lived in South Africa for some years, before returning to England in the 1970s. Hundreds of the records we are clearing from his house are also South African pressings.

Valecnik wrote:What does it say on that metal tag to the left of the platter? Appears to be a Model L-35 London no.1. If that's what it is, it was exported to the UK starting in 1923 and sold for 22‎£. Although not common in the US, it would not command a very high price there. You can see more desirable models for $100-$300. Others would be more qualified to assess it's value on the UK market.
I checked today, and it is indeed an L35. The gentleman was very disappointed at it's low value, but appreciated that these were far more common in the States. He has decided not to sell it. Thank you for your input.
