4 old phonographs
My dad recently passed away and left behind 4 old phonographs. One is a Edison Home Model E, one is an Amberola, another is a Victrola, and the last is an Edison Diamond disc phonograph. In addition there are almost 600 Diamond Discs, 78's and cylinder records. Since I do not know anything about any of these, I am not sure where to even start on getting them sold. I am pretty sure my dad never played them, and all look in good shape. Any suggestions on where to get started, would be greatly appreciated. They are very overwhelming to me. Sorry everyone, I was not thinking I was selling here. I was just trying to figure out where to start finding out of about these and how to figure out how to price them. We are in Edmonds, Washington.

It would be helpful to know at least generally where you are located.

FYI The Edison Home E has the wrong cabinet from a earlier model and has been refinished

I don't know anything about them, so it is good to know it was refinished. I am doing my best to research them.

On another note you may have more value in the Records and cylinders than the machines depending on condition and titles.Stacypeda wrote:I don't know anything about them, so it is good to know it was refinished. I am doing my best to research them.
Do not under any circumstances try to play the Edison Diamond discs on the Victrola as the record will be damaged.
Also if you play any of the 78 on the Victrola change the steel needle after each single play.
If you compile a spreadsheet listing the records and cylinders that would be good.

Thank you. I was worried about playing any of them, so glad I didn't (I would have done the wrong thing for sure). I have typed a list of the Diamond Discs and 78's. Just need to add the 100+ cylinders now.

Good to see the photos!
As said before, the Home has an incorrect case (which, as well as having been refinished, has a repro decal which is poorly done, and is totally incorrect for this model). That's going to take quite a bit off its resale value.
The B-250 and the Amberola 50 are pretty nice and original.
The Victrola is a lower-end floor model, but apparently in good condition.

The original post clearly states the location as Edmonds, Washington!52089 wrote:It would be helpful to know at least generally where you are located.

It does now; it did not originally. It was edited to include that information following my post.epigramophone wrote:The original post clearly states the location as Edmonds, Washington!52089 wrote:It would be helpful to know at least generally where you are located.

All nice Phonographs. The Edison Home Model "E" is a bit hard to find and it looks like it needs a little work..
The Amberola 50 is an Early one with an Externa Speed Control and Nickeled Reproducer...One of the first ones made. Very Nice.
Everyone wants an Edison B250 machine... Nice score there as well.
I can't speak to the Victor Machine...but it also looks nice.
Your father had some very nice machines...
It will bring you a nice tidy sum..
Good Luck with the sales.
