I have been following the recent posts about the Edison Army & Navy DD machine regularly, but with a "Gosh, wouldn't it be nice to find one of those" kind of interest, never suspecting that I would. We went Up North, as we call it here in Michigan. We took our motorhome and drove north along Lake Huron to a place called Harrisville where we stayed in the state park for a few days. We hadn't been there in about 30 years, and we decided to see what antique shops were still around. We went through a couple of good ones and I spent a long time talking clocks with the owner of one of them. As it was a Sunday and everyone closes early, we were aboout a half hour late getting to the last one and the shop was dark. Of course we looked in the windows to see what they might have and as I looked around, I spotted this dark box with the lid open sitting just inside the window. I said "Wait a minute, could it be?" and there it was: an Edison A & N in all its...glory? I pointed it out to my wife, explained what it was and we made plans to go and get it. Which we did, shoehorned it into the camper and now it is sitting in my garage waiting for me to get busy on it. As you can see, the grille is missing but otherwise it seems complete. BTW: if anyone has a spare grille for one of these hanging around I would love to get a PM from you. Anyway, here are some pictures.

That's a big ole "wow!" I love that there continue to be treasures "in the wild!" Congratulations
( . . . and I was going to comment "if it could talk, the stories it could tell," well of course it's going to talk!)

Nice! Don Gfell was selling repro grills for these awhile back. You could check with him.

Good going! Another of the "Ugly Duckling" of the Edison line finds an appreciative home!
I display mine in "stowed" arrangement, since the mechanics are the same as other Edison Disc Phonographs. I think these are interesting machines, despite their lack of aesthetics.

Re: My New Edison A & N
With the recent flurry of activity surrounding the Edison Army/Navy phonograph, I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to compile a data base of serial numbers. ?
