The value in the States is probably different than in Poland. I'll have a Model D Standard ready to sell in a few weeks. With an original H reproducer and a reproduction 14" horn, it worth about $325. In Poland I have no idea. The Searchlight horn in your photo looks like a gloss black repaint to me with questionable results. Finding a Searchlight horn with good original paint is very difficult. Perhaps they were not prepped very well before painting.

Well any cylinder phonograph in poland is a rarit. Im particiuralry interested in the value of the horn. Owner wants about the value of 1100$ how does this compare to US prices?

Im particiuralry interested in the value of the horn.
It's hard to answer that question because all we see is what appears to be the poorly repainted outside of the horn. Maybe the inside is better. I could suggest that you look at a horn that I offered on the Trader. It's now on page 2. It's a blue horn with beautiful original painted flowers. I had one person interested at $175 but shipping was an issue. Of course shipping is an issue with any larger horn. I'm not suggesting you buy my horn but do check the value of a $175 purchase. So for value in the United States you'd have:

Edison Standard Model D.......................................$350
Nice morning glory or Searchlight horn..................$200
Reproduction Sitko horn crane.................................$75
__________
$625 Total

If you buy the phonograph and want to keep the searchlight authentic it might take about eight hours of work. It will have to be stripped, primed, painted silver, then painted a translucent color of your choice. Searchlight company used a blue, red, and a nice green. I know there are other colors but I do not remember them. They also highlighted them in gold lines. Best thing is to buy one already complete. Tom

I have never seen a searchlight horn with good paint- all of them have been faded or flaking to some extent.

Hello,

These searchlight horns are great, but the paint is terrible for lasting over the years. I have had a couple, but had to repaint them both. Nothing says that you cant redo it...The big question on this machine and horn is what is it worth to you? In the states this price may be a little high, but they are plentiful. In your country, if they are hard to find, this price may not be out of line..

Good Luck,

Joe
