SOLD: Edison Home D w/Horn & Crane: NEW PRICE: $500

Post by phonogfp »

This is the third of four machines I'm selling for a friend.

This machine can be delivered by me to the Wayne NJ show on Oct. 12 & 13. I can also bring any machines to the Union show in June 2020. I have a number of friends who travel pretty regularly, and we can probably make arrangements for delivery through them as well.

This Edison Home Model D is equipped with an H Reproducer for playing 4-minute records. The entire machine was adjusted and the mainspring replaced about 10 years ago. It plays flawlessly.

As you can see in the pictures, it's a very clean example.

The flower horn is a product of the Tea Tray Company, and is in very nice original condition. I found this horn in an antique shop way out in the hinterlands in 2007. I was struck by the additional silver border inside. Close examination will show that the border was not applied at the Tea Tray factory, but rather by a steady-handed artist long, long ago. This paint is very old. I considered removing it, but it's so well done and so unusual, I left it. My friend was equally attracted to it and talked me out of it so he could display it on this Home. The entire horn is in very nice condition, as you can see.

The crane is a quality Sitko nickel-plated reproduction Edison crane.

Click twice on the pictures to enlarge them.

Thanks for looking!

That's a really nice example. Also nice to see one that's not been drilled for a cygnet.

George that is a very nice machine!

Not being very familiar with the 2M/4M feed changing
mechanism on these, it is hard for me to tell from
the photos if it's there or not.

I assume it is and that it works, especially since
the instructions are there inside the lid for
change of reproducers.

So, that is one question I have: Is the feed change
mechanism present and working?

Thanks, Chuck

It's there Chuck as noted by Fran and let George confirm but being an Edison it should work. They always do. Cosmetically it's a really nice example.

I keep trying to come up with reasons I shouldn't buy this beauty. One big reason is the really nice Model B Home and cygnet horn, with 2-4 gearing and Model H reproducer I bought from George's friend Bill about a month ago. ;)

Still, it's tempting with that nice horn, and in such great condition!

Best,
Fran

Sorry for the delay - -

Yes, the gear change mechanism is there, and as I wrote above, “It plays flawlessly.”
