Found an H & S Cylinder Cabinet, Need Some Advice
I found a Hawthorne and Sheble cylinder cabinet last week... has five drawers with capacity for 20 cylinders in each... the pegs of course are missing... my question concerns the locks... the top drawer is obvious, but the lower four lock from behind - see the photo - via a small hook for each, all connected to a vertical metal rod that runs from the top to bottom of the interior back of the cabinet... I’m feeling stupid because I can’t figure out how open and close those so to speak. Would anyone have any advice?

I need to be educated. This cabinet looks really early to me. It also looks like one that could have housed a machine under glass because of the wasted space between the top and the first drawer.
Thanks, Jerry

In order to open the lower four drawers, you must first open the top drawer just a little to release the bar in the back. With the top drawer closed, all of the drawers are locked. That's why there's only a lock on the top drawer.
This is not an under glass cabinet. Under glass cabinets have a deeper top section that keeps the top drawer from hitting the machine's motor.

That worked - thank you so much.
