SOLD: Rare Rudy Vallee private recording, 1926 $100 OBO

Post by gramophone-georg »

Here's a nice copy of Columbia "Personal Record" 93-P, the genesis of what soon became "Rudy Vallee and his Connecticut Yankees": Bolton and Cipriano's Westchester Biltmore Orchestra playing a hot version of "You'll Do It Someday (So Why Not Now)". This issue was recorded in March 1926, thus pre- dating the Edison Diamond Disc and Harmony/ Diva/ Velvet Tone versions of this tune by nearly three years.

The reverse is Rudy doing a sax solo of Victor Herbert's "Kiss Me Again" with piano accompaniment. I've always believed that this is Vallee's first recording, and I've never found any Vallee recordings of any kind which pre- date this.

Note: This is an electrical recording.

Visual E-, plays great.

$100 OBO

I think Vallee's first solo recording is another personal disc of "A Japanese Sunset
