I remember some of these names from when I was a kid back in the early 1970's. Especially Nels Peterson, but I never met any of them. If my Dad was aware of where any of these guys lived he would have kept me away from them as he thought I had enough encouragement from the few collectors I already knew! It's from October 6, 1963 so I was a year old when this was published. I've never seen this article before, but it's amazing to see what some of these guys up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area had back in those days. It's kind of funny that the one guy thought guns were ridiculously priced, so he went to phonograph collecting. You certainly don't see any floor machines around in these guys collections! I remember one old guy I knew when I was a kid looking at a Columbia floor machine at an auction and telling me "I wouldn't make room for that thing out in my driveway!" Bud had very few floor machines in his mess of phonographs. It was a different world for collectors back 60 years ago...
And whoever wrote the article was just as ignorant of the subject as most are today. The person that wrote the article should have taken a few more notes maybe.
My scanner bed isn't big enough for this old paper, so I just had to take a couple of photos of the article. I think you can read most of it. I can take closer pictures of the pictures and text if you want. Earl.
This was in a Panatrope I bought on Thursday.

Amazingly, I have an original copy of that exact same article in my scrapbook!
One of the collectors featured was Larry Schlick. He was one of my mentors in the 1960s and he was the person who sent me the magazine when it first came out.
I didn't know the other collectors mentioned.
