I bought this, which I don’t need, expressly for its quartered oak. It languishes in the garage but I’ll eventually get it in the house somehow.

The picture isn't much but the Victor III has spectacular graining on it, though it is more a "Case" and less a "Cabinet." This is the one that was stored in an original carrying case since about the 1920s or something--a case that sold for $3 back in 1909 and locked with a tiny key that I still have as it's stapled to the inside and never has been used. There's one side of the Victor III with great chunks of grain stuck all through it like some sort of modern acrylic block. It looks as pretty as it sounds! As of this year it's officially 110 years old.

I don't have the Edison Standard anymore but it was remarkable for being very green and very OLD.

Interesting. All of these are a different color than my VV-X. It's more blonde, not so honey colored. I'll try to shoot a photo this weekend.

I'm finding these cross cut oak cabinets very interesting and enjoyable. Let me add a few more.

Oh. My. Goodness. You’re a mean man.

By the way, on the 51-week anniversary of the Broken Back Incident (a couple of weeks ago), I decided I couldn’t wait a whole year for a reunion with my pals at the ER, so I broke a rib.

Not phonograph related. Tripped over one of the dogs.

She’s sorry.

I hope you can recover soon, Peter--that's pretty tough.

I always knew owning dogs would be bad for your health! That's why i never owned one.

I’m almost fully recovered, just a little sore!

Dogs are the best; people don’t deserve them, actually.

And Victor definitely knew what they were doing when they incorporated one in the best trademark of all time.
