Any info on music store in Malones in Charles City, IA ?

Post by Schlick »

Wonderful Mr. Hummel found this for my father years ago.
It would be fun to see if there were more things like it...
But does anyone have any information on this Schlick’s Music Store (other than the really cool name ;) ) ?

I have no more information on the dealer, but here's another item from the place:

I used to deliver packages over in Charles City a lot 15-20 years ago and it seems like the historical society over there has some pictures of the inside of that store. The guy that used to own the jewelry store over there has the same last name, so he probably has some connection. I don't get over there anymore but almost all of the phonographs I have seen in that town are Edison's! I can think of 6-8 diamond disk machines off the top of my head, but no Victrolas. I have a record brush around here like that one as well, but your brush is in much nicer shape. A really bad tornado went through that town around 1968 and it really destroyed much of the downtown area.
