Is this the turntable I'm looking for?

Post by Thorhallur »

I have a victor I type D that is missing a 10" turntable. I saw this one on Ebay. Anyone know if it is the correct type/would fit?

No, that is a later unit as used on a 1918-24 vintage Victrola. There were very late
Machines which were fitted with Victrola style motors which used this turntable, but they are very seldom met with.

Could you show us a photo of your motor?

I the same motor, but with the coarse worm and drive gear, maybe earlier version, in a HMV Junior tabletop with the L rigid tonearm and the exhibition junior soundbox (the one in my avatar). It is a pressed steel 10" turntable, no marks, no balancing holes. The neck has the double slot for Ebrahim the spindle pin, but the pin only on one side.

You Need the earliest of the stamped steel turntables one that would also Replace a cast iron turntable. I have been hoping that your machine was just a trifle later, for that machine would’ve ended up having a Victrola IV motor

Could someone post a photo of the underside of a turntable suitable for the early table model VV-X or XI? Of course it needs to be a 10" turntable but that's the correct connection. Jerry B.

Here you go. I hope this helps. The turntable is from my tabletop XI.

(Thanks Matt)

Thorhallur, Yes, you need a 10" turntable with that connection. It shouldn't be too hard to find. I've sent an item overseas to Thorhallur and it was easy. Who's got a turntable???

Thank you! This really helps in my search! I'm just one part and one motor fix away from a functional and playing machine!

If anyone is reluctant to mail to Iceland just send the turntable to me and I'll mail it.
