I'm thinking all the "normal" two-spring models would have had the 250 horn (the Jacobean being the odd man out with a 250 horn but only a single spring), which would suggest any post-A-series two-spring set of works (except maybe from the low-end long play consoles) would fit the C-250 cabinet, be it originally from a William and Mary, a C-250 or C-19, or whatever--am I right? That's what I was trying to suggest, anyway.
Oh, I forgot that you said two spring motors. Yes, I guess you're right except for the Long Play 1C, the Jacobean, and for the Beethoven Edisonic, which had a totally different horn.

$450 for a clobbered-up C-250 cabinet?

Agreed!

Never hurts to make an offer. If they don't accept it now, they may accept it 3 months from now when it's still holding their floor down.

Reminds me of a Victrola VE-XVI that my dad spotted at a shop many years ago. It had lots of "issues" but they still wanted $150 for it. After my dad spoke with them for a few minutes, they gave the machine to us for free. It wasn't that dad was a "smooth operator" or anything like that, it was just that people just couldn't help liking him.
