Victor mahogany horn

Post by Hyperion »

Does someone here know if Victor made its mahogany spearpoint horn in one size only? Would the Victor IV and the Victor VI have come equipped with the same mahogany spearpoint horn (assuming the customer chose that option), or was the one offered for the VI larger than the one offered for the IV? Or did they not offer the spearpoint variation for the IV at all?

Yes, but the 18.5" horns are very hard to find!

So the 18.5 inch horn would be for the IV, and the 22 inch horn for the VI? Or could you do the 22 inch horn on the IV, too?

Victor IV purchasers who wanted a wood horn usually opted for the 22" spear point.
This is why the 18.5" smooth mahogany horn is so very hard to find.

Cheers,Bob S.

P.S. Correct Victor VI 22" spear point horns have a gold plated metal end cap, and correct Victor IV 22" spear point horns have a nickel plated metal end cap. (All 18.5" Victor horns have a nickel plated metal end cap).

The Victor IV looks nice with the 22 inch horn. Here's one equipped with a very nice Bill White repro 22 inch horn.

Just for clarification. The #30 18.5" mahogany horn is smooth and not with spear points. As far as I know, this horn was only used on the Victor IV. However, you could have ordered the larger #31 spear point also for your Victor IV

I have this horn available if you decide to go the larger route. It is a reproduction but it's amazing. I purchased it for a Victor IV. The delivery was delayed and I sold the machine with a metal horn.
