The episode broadcast on 29th April included the "restoration" of an Edison Opera. Watch it if you can, and weep

The Music Master horn was chemically stripped to bare wood, and refinished in a shade which did not match the case, which was left as found. The neck was painted black and re-attached to the bell with glue, no attempt being made to replace the missing brass ferrule.
On completion the sound quality was just as bad as when the machine was brought in. Wow, flutter and playing much too fast. The out of round cylinder played was a tenor singing Gilbert and Sullivan, but he sounded more like one of the Chipmunks

As if the treatment of the Opera was not bad enough, any non collector watching might assume that this is what one is supposed to sound like.
