Looking for Wagner - Die Walkerie act III
I am looking for this 78rpm record on 12". The piece title is Ride of the Valkyries. I have a Columbia Graphonola and I have the Prelude, act I and act II, they sound great on this machine so I would live to have Act III. I've looked on trade lists and other sources online but I thought I'd check here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You'll want to post this in the "Music Trader" section, and be sure to format your title in line with the requirements posted there.pmilton wrote:I am looking for this 78rpm record on 12". I have a Victor red seal from 1928 out of Berlin. Here is a link to a YouTube video I made a year or two ago of it.

It is not for sale but it might give you something to look for.

I have a 1921 Victrola recording. It's not for sale either but it's super common...if you found a copy, play it around 74 or 75 RPM as it was recorded too fast.

Do you want the orchestral version, or the version with Valkyries singing?

The Columbia record is the only ones of those noted by Epigramophone that includes the singing. The album notes accompanying the original 1927 recording claims that this was the first recording made to include the vocals.
This was part of the set recorded at Bayreuth in 1927 during the Festival but these are not actual "live" recordings. They were recorded in the theatre but, presumably, during the day rather than during a performance.

Reminds me of the classic remark (attributed to whomever?), "Opera's great, until the singing starts."

I seem to have a January 1948 version.
Like mentioned above by others, it isn't for sale, but if it is relevant to you, may give you an idea of what to look for.

Most probably not of the same quality of the take directed by Toscanini, the following version also exists, which is maybe easier and cheaper to find. (Record in picture not for sale.)
