Grease for tone-arm slip-joints and fittings?
Is there a resource that lists the appropriate types of lubricants and greases for tone arm slip-joints and bearings? I know one needs appropriate lubricants to keep an air-tight seal. Although to my eye, it appears that "some" tone-arm designs have such loose joints it is hard to see how they could be made air-tight.

Plumber's grease is good for this. It's used to assemble faucets and the like. No silicone, and won't disturb plated metal.

Were all the joints greased when new? Or is this a modern idea to improve the sound?

So much for "air tight seal". They did not seem to worry about this much in the era of the horn machines...
