What to use for lubing Victor 4 Reproducer

Post by audioengr »

I have taken apart a Victor 4 Reproducer to restore it and I need to know whether to use grease or oil on the ball bearings and bushings.

I add a drop of modern car oil, repeating from time to time.

Never ever heard of, nor considered, oiling a reproducer.

I use model train oil, which is very viscous and stays in place, but is also supposed to have excellent lubricating properties.

But who knows, perhaps one day I'll find out that it's only re-bottled engine oil sold at ten times the price...
