Spanish Gramophone ? (and underage drinking......)

Post by Gramtastic »

Interesting postcard .... perhaps the early 20th century equivalent of a rave. the card is by a Spanish firm so presumably the machine is Spanish ? Anyone recognise it ?

I love these old images and this one is quite candid rather than the more formal poses we are use to. The fashion looks a little bit later than the machine, perhaps taken in the 1920s-30s. The horn pictured is often seen on a variety of Swiss/German machines. I hope someone has a bit more of an idea about the base, the machine is nice and clear and not particularly obscured by anything as often happens.

That's pretty cool!

I don't think there was really a drinking age at that time, was there? If so, these guys must not have cared too much.

It's a great picture, but I kind of doubt the kids are drinking alcohol. It's probably just cordial or something mums made up for the occasion, in recycled bottles maybe.
Then again, they could just be store bought. Even today in Australia you can buy certain brands of non alcoholic beverages in exactly the same bottles as beer and wine. The same was probably true in the 20s and 30s.
