Re: Wanted
Is there some reason you can't do it...?

Re: Wanted
Just a friendly suggestion to please edit the title of your post to reflect what you want. Do you just want it painted or do you want it restored complete with accurate decals? Do you want the gear cover and carriage painted as well?
A previous reply asked if there was a reason you weren't attempting the painting. Personally, I enjoy enjoy investing my time and ability in doing what I am capable of doing. Doing so really makes the machine mine. There are areas that I avoid. I replaced a few springs but I don't enjoy spring work and it can be dangerous. If a brass belled horn needs attention I send it to an expert. But I do so many things and it gives me satisfaction.
An Edison Standard or Home repair or restoration is a wonderful machine to get that learning experience. There are many here that are generous with their expertise and opinions. Maybe your Edison is a family piece that you simply want to be both attractive and functional and you have no intentions of going down the collecting path. I respect that perspective as well. But I would always caution people that purchase project machines and farm out a good deal of the restoration. It can get expensive. I'll have a really nice Edison Standard B with original finish & decal, paint & striping, serviced spring motor, rebuilt C reproducer and reproduction 14" horn at the next phono sale I attend. The price will be $350. A professional grade restoration of your deck could cost about half that amount or more depending on the model.
Are you able to post photos of your Edison? On the outside chance that your machine is an expensive or rare model I would lean towards a professional grade restoration. But most likely you have a more common model. Photos would be nice for good advice.
Best wishes with your project, Jerry Blais
