My early home is nearly ready to sing for the first time in decades, but it just needs a couple of parts first, I need a carriage, the type with the clips to hold the reproducer in place and I also need a banner type lid.
I'm not particularly looking for perfect condition as the rest of it isn't, so a lid being a bit chewed up is fine, anyone have anything?

This might work, and the price appears negotiable (not mine):

The colors seem off to me, so perhaps it’s later. George will know.
You could move the Edisonia badge over to it.

Well, George can only make an educated guess. I agree it looks dark, and the decal is a somewhat later variation. I'd hold out for a better example.PeterF wrote:

Re: Wanted: Edison suitcase home carriage and lid
Wow that is a very early one. That is from Nov. 1897. Mine is H2003 from Dec 1897.
Special HTF carriage.
Do you want one that just fits or the exact correct one?
Thanks, Bob

Re: Wanted: Edison suitcase home carriage and lid
I've been told by George that any of the variants of carriages with reproducer clips could technically be correct, the original carriage was smashed beyond recognition so I don't know the type it had originally so I reckon any one that will fit and get it playing will do for this machinestudebakerphonos wrote:Wow that is a very early one. Alex, this lid currently on German ebay ( ebay.de) . In ebay search-bar type " cover for Edison phonographs see picture ". Seller has it listed as buy it now or make offer. Buy it now price perhaps a little on the expensive side , but then these lids on their own not easy to find - may be worth biting the bullet ? Looks like the exterior finish would match in with your base nicely. Regards Dulcetto

Thanks!, that's such a close match it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't the one from this machine, shipping does make it pricey so I've made an offer on it

Re: Wanted: Edison suitcase home carriage and lid
I have found there were particular changes to the carriage that are date / serial number sensitive.
Just as the brass mandrel usage.
The proper carriage for yours (as was mine) is HTF.
Even the lid decals changed greatly in these first machines.
