What’s Up With This Amberola 30?

Post by JohnM »

A friend is in an antiques store and texted me a photo of an early Amberola 30 with speed control. What is this reproducer? He also sent a video of it playing and it’s tracking a 4-minute groove okay.

That's an ICS Amberola 30, it incorporates a modified model H reproducer in a reducer ring, it allowed for 4 minute recording but they're useful for playing because you can play 4 minute wax amberols on it, which you obviously can't do on a regular amberola 30

^^What he said, with the addition that it is not quite as common as we might like; the H reproducer is a nice find in the Amberola.

The only thing wrong with that machine is that it's not in your collection being awesome right now, so go for it when you've a chance!
