Where to Find Sonora Parts
I will be getting a Sonora over the weekend and looking at it, it will probably need a new tone arm. Does anyone know where I might be able to get parts for a Sonora? I will post pictures as soon as I get the machine home, the ones I have are really grainy. I really appreciate any advice you can give me.

Re: Where to Find Sonora Parts
I unfortunately do not know the exact model of Sonora, but I do have a picture of it that I hope will help. I am taking a bit of a risk on this one, but it seems to be a rather nice machine and I am hopeful that the tone arm will not be to hard to find.

George Vollema, your one-stop shopping for phonograph parts will have one, I'm sure!

I think that's the Sonora "Troubador" - it was one step below their bombe case line having a swell front only. They're nice machines and most metal Sonora tone arms are interchangeable. Some use separate reproducers for vertical and lateral, later ones have a universal fitting that twists.

Re: Where to Find Sonora Parts
I copied this from another site regarding the Troubadour, and apparently came from the Sonora catalog. It may not help you with your parts, (sorry), but interesting info nevertheless.
Made in 1916 in or around that date, Golden, fumed, Early English or Mission Oak, Sharaton Mahogany or Mahogany. 12inch Turntable. Double spring motor, Nickel plated, playing nearly five 10 inch records with one full winding. Tone Modifier. Automatic Stop, Sapphire needle. Needle Cups. Multi-Playing Needle. Equipment for playing all makes of disc records in the world. Rack filing system. Capacity,90 records. Diamond Needle $5.00 Extra. Trimmings Nickel-plated.
Dimensions: Width 191/4 in height 411.2in Depth 191/4in. Tone Grade D
Original price was $75.00, and apparently this machine was 9th in line of the models available from the Supreme to the Troubadour.

Re: Where to Find Sonora Parts
Thank you everyone for you advice. I am going to wait and get the Sonora home before I buy any parts, but from what I can tell it looks like I will be able to get what I need. I am getting this for $200, so I hope that is not a bad buy. I am not very familiar with Sonora's, but it looks to be a nicely designed machine and I am really looking forward to getting it and see what it is really like. I really appreciate having it identified as a Troubadour model. I am trying to find as much information on that as I can since it will be nice to know something about that particular model. As always, all of you are great. I only hope that someday I will have the knowledge that those of you on this board posses.
