Will the upcoming phonograph shows & auctions be cancelled?

I know that it is early and a lot can change quickly, but I was wondering if there are any plans to cancel any upcoming phonograph events due to recent health concerns. I don't want to be an alarmist and I don't want this to turn political. Many public gatherings are being cancelled already. I look forward to the Wayne show, but in the scheme of things, it is not really that important. I was just wondering if anyone had any inside information regarding possible cancellations.

I hope that you are right George. I fear that if it blows over quickly that when it happens for real that people will dismiss it as hype, as many are doing now, and with some justification. The other fear is that it is as bad or worse than predicted. Kind of a Catch 22.

Hopefully you are correct, but we should all prepare just in case. If Union gets cancelled it'll be horrible- not only because it's the last one, but also that many of us depend on Union as a shipping hub for purchases made throughout the year.

I am both an phonograph collector and an avid saltwater fisherman. The Saltwater Fisherman Expo held in Edison NJ scheduled for this weekend March 13,14 & 15 was just cancelled. I’m fearful that other large gatherings here in New Jersey will be canceled also.

Well, it has already "happened for real." Today the World Health Organization declared the Covid-19 a pandemic. People are dying, so it's more than hype.

At the same time, over 18,000 people in the U.S. have died of the flu this season while U.S. deaths from Covid-19 number less than 35. The precautions against both illnesses are much the same, and many of us have been following those precautions since November. We should encourage precautions - - not panic.

Hopefully you are correct, but we should all prepare just in case.

If "preparing for the worst" means emptying stores of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, I'll pass. It's clear that certain elements of the mainstream media are hyping Covid-19 for all they're worth...and then some. I heard a news story this afternoon that struck me as being blatantly irresponsible; playing with words and leaving out the key message made by a respected medical professional. The news story was clearly designed to incite panic. To quote a past statesman during seriously threatening times: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

it must be noted that while U.S. deaths are minimal, this is a disease that expands exponentially and we have no idea what the final tallies will be. Comparing it to the flu is a false narrative. We know that the flu diminishes in warm weather, while COVID-19 may well be with us long-term.

My mistake - - I wasn't sure how we could "prepare for the worst" regarding phonograph shows! I agree that a Union cancellation (again - - I've heard nothing about this, and it would surely be premature to speculate on this) would be a lousy development for all of us. But if I were a betting man, I'd take odds against this happening.

Well, Chicago (and many other municipalities) has just canceled their St. Patrick's Day Parade. I don't know if I would take your odds or not at this point.
