If the motor winds up and the turntable rotates, there is probably no reason to mess with it. Just lubricate the moving parts and since you are new to this, don't mess with disassembling it or removing the springs from the spring barrels, UNLESS you are mechanically inclined and used to working with mechanical things. Even then, you should consult a video or two to see how it's done, since it is dangerous...

Yes, this is a very good point. Often the motors just need a bit of cleaning. I've only opened up the motor of mine because it has a broken spring.

I could have sent it away but I am mechanically minded and have a workshop (and watched all the videos about it I could find on YouTube!)

Go for it! There is only one way to learn and that is by doing. Follow the good advice available here and you will get it done. If all else fails, which won't happen, the reproducer is worth the cost of the machine.

I agree with others and suggest you attempt it yourself. You will learn so much. Plus a professional restoration is cost prohibitive. You can do so much!

I restored and sold a VV-XI in similar condition last year. it felt good getting it back in working order and I hope whoever has it now is enjoying it.
