So if the speed control comes out the same side as the crank, why would you build it so the crank is on the left? Why not rotate 180 degrees?Note also, it winds from the left side!

I guess the builder was left handed. You're correct, there's no reason why the motor couldn't have been spun around 180 degrees.

Looks to me that if the motor was rotated 180 degrees, it would interfere with the internal horn.there's no reason why the motor couldn't have been spun around 180 degrees.
