Re: Victor Governor Shaft - Mine on Ebay
Sometimes people do need to only replace the shaft, the pins are sometimes broken or bent, sometimes the gears are badly worn. I have bought several Governor shafts and only replaced the the shafts. I actually bought this one from Bob Nix back in 2009 for 80.00. I realize prices have fallen.soundgen wrote:PuzzledVictrolacollector wrote:A nice governor shaft for the early Victor machines.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/233091630002As to why someone would want to buy just the shaft , if the governor was missing you would want the complete governor , no? Please explain
I actually have another one that I thought about selling with a broken pin, maybe someone can replace it?

It's the only part of the governor that wears...

Thanks Jerry, absolutely, that and the governor springs. Those collars and weights practically last forever.JerryVan wrote:It's the only part of the governor that wears...
Not only can the governor shaft gear wear, the pins break, the pins can also wear down causing excessive motor noise.

Re: Victor Governor Shaft - Mine on Ebay
Do you have the early governor that has the flat collar (not the angled one) that goes with the early shaft? This style Victor governor is the one that goes through the brake yoke and cannot have the angled collars. Thanks
