How to make adjustments to Edison b-250?

Because I rebuilt my Edison B-250 reproducer yesterday, I spent a good amount of time today listening to the machine. I have had skipping problems with the phonograph before, but another problem became evident today as well.

The limit pin consistently rides to the left side of the limit loop and skips on the records. But now today, it seems as if the horn was shifted? The limit pin is almost hitting the top of the reproducer cup, and I know that that will cut the records. I bought my B-250 at a local thrift shop (for $75 ), and never took the motor out or cleaned anything but the cabinet. It is also missing the back 2 feet, but I have it propped up. I haven't checked if the machine is level in a while, but I will do that tomorrow.

So how do I adjust the machine so that the limit pin rides in the center of the limit pin loop?

In the picture below, I do not have the horn lowered all the way. If I did the limit pin would be dangerously close to the reproducer cup)

Refer to the section about setting the height of the reproducer. It's a 3 minute job once you've done it once or twice.

I read the instructions a few times. I think I understand what to do, but if I have any trouble I will come back and ask.


How do I stop the pin from hitting the left side of the loop? Does that indicate the cabinet is not level?


Edit: Okay I read the part about bending the horn. Anyone have any tips for this?

When the reproducer is fully raised, does the limit pin return to the center of the loop, or does it still "hang" to the left? The thinking being, that the swivel at the tail of the reproducer body is sticking or stiff. This will also cause the skipping that you mention, even with the slightest resistance.

NO thats not the issue. I just took the reproducer apart and cleaned everything. the weight swivels very easily, I think I need to adjust the horn
