Early tabletop X

Post by oliver »

Hi Everyone, Newbie here from Staten Island, NY. Taking this opportunity to show you a low serial # VV-X found 20+ years ago at a local auction. I initially bought the machine for parts as it had fallen off a truck and was very rough. After all these years, I decided to save it. It still needs a lot and will never be pristine, but it lives. Best regards to all.

Welcome-- Very nice looking machine. Not much evidence of any road rash. An early X in oak is high on my list of "desirables"

Looks pretty good for falling off a truck. Good to hear that you're caring for it. :) What is the serial number if you don't mind sharing it?

Thanks. Fortunately there were no major breaks; pretty much all of the damage was at the joints. Glue and furniture clamps came to the rescue. I also sent out the motor for overhaul. Remaining work: clean exterior of case and overhaul reproducer.

Welcome... nice machine. I ran across an early Victrola VV-IV last year and I love it. The early Victrolas are special in their own way...
