Tinfoil video

Post by TinfoilPhono »

Interesting short video from the Smithsonian. I've had the good fortune to get hands-on with this prototype Bergmann when I was researching my book. LINK HERE.

Many thanks for bringing this video to our attention. It's good to see two old friends--the Bergmann phonograph and a treasured colleague. Lucky me, I was responsible for the Smithsonian's phonograph collection at the time of your visit and had the pleasure of meeting you and Bill Ptacek.

Cheers, Wm.

Thanks for posting this. Don't you love the oilers on top? Such a cool piece of machinery.

How great to know that you're on this forum, William! How well I remember our long visit with you, and how helpful you were to Bill and myself. That was a very memorable day. I'll never forget the excitement of getting to examine the Edison demonstration tinfoil that had been modified by Bell & Tainter to become the first prototype Graphophone.
