Does the "Sullivan" credit presumably refer to Sir Arthur Sullivan? The chorus is definitely borrowed from "Pirates of Penzance".

Yes! The song was taken from Pirates and had already been a popular song with the new text for several years before this recording in 1917.

They sing--"Hail, hail, the gang's all here" --

--and some of us are hearing, "Come, friends, who plough the sea, / Truce to navigation, Take a different station / Let's vary pi-ra-cy/ With a bit of bur-glary!"

No matter what lyrics you sing, it's a fine tune.
