Rap-O-Phone?

Post by Valecnik »

This morning at 7am I was at the local gym running on a treadmill as I often do, (with minimal result btw).

In front of the treadmill on the wall is a row of TV monitors. The monitors either advertise these miracle creams that make women look 25 years younger. (Just send in 100 Euro or so) or they display MTV type music videos, mostly Lady Gaa Goo, etcetera. They alternate every second monitor.

One video showed some rappers, rapping I guess, with a Crap-O-Phone in the background. There was a vinyl LP on the Crap-O-Phone and a DJ was manually rotating the record back and forth like they did in the discos in the 70's.

I learned two things.
1) They must put this stuff on the monitors to convince you that being on a treadmill at 7am is better than being home watching TV.
2) I learned why some young people think you can play a vinyl LP or even a CD on an acoustic phono. :?

I think I saw that film clip too the other day.
Somehow I get the felling that "scratching" ( manually rotating the record back and forth like they did in the discos in the 70's-and still do) on a crapophone would produce the same glorious sound quality, regardless of what direction the turntable was going, or what record or cd you attemopted to play
