Autographed Nipper!

Post by Jerry B. »

I don't have a guest book but if you visit us in Albany, Oregon, you can sign Nipper. That may seem as a desecration of a Nipper but I don't think so. Victrolaman was selling plastic Nippers like this at Union back in the late 80s or early 90s for around $150. I'm sure he sold dozens of the large Nippers as well as many of the two smaller sizes. I had just purchased mine in a local antique shop for $100. I believe these late Nippers are found with a RCA sticker and some were sold without the sticker. I always thought the ones with stickers are the last of the real Nippers. I think the manufacturer sold these Nippers to RCA but not exclusively. Mine did not have the RCA label so, in a way, I thought of it as a fake. What do you do with a replica? I had an inspirational moment and thought I'd have visiting phono nerds sign Nipper anywhere below the collar. It's been my guest book for many years. But there is always room for another signature.
