Victor 8-9 Orthophonic: Crank Questions

Been wondering for a while if my 8-9 has the correct crank. My crank is gold plated and measures 8" long from the tip of the threaded end to the inside bend of the arm. My crank bushing is also gold plated, so I think the plating is correct. What makes me wonder is the fact that there is a wear pattern on the crank that would suggest it spent time in a another machine with the crank bushing rubbing on it in a different location than the 8-9's bushing. Wondering if my crank is a bit too long to be correct.

Anyway, what it boils down to is this;

1. Your 8-9 crank plating is? (Gold or oxidized)
2. The shaft portion is how long? (Measured from the tip of the threaded end to the inside of the 90 degree crank bend.)
3. Your 8-9 serial number, (Mine is 700. Maybe early & late ones vary?)

I went downstairs to check my 8-9, got the measuring tape, then looked for the crank. But whoops! I forgot! Mine is electric!

If the crank, or any other hardware on your 8-9 is gold plated then it has been changed at some time.
The 8-9 was introduced after Victor discontinued their gold plating bath. The metalwork on these
Machines DID have a gilt finish, but for this Victor used the same paint which they were using on the
tone arms of their portables.

The painted sound boxes with no holes to hold the little muffler used on portables are the very deuce to find.

Oh, and the cord on mine is just shy of eight feet.

Thanks Uncle V! I must say, my crank appears to be plated, but then I did suspect it's correctness to begin with. What I find odd however, is that the crank bushing appears plated as well, though it's the correct 3 screw style. All the internal pieces have the gilt/painted finish that you refer to, including the deuce of a reproducer .
