For Sale is an early original Model-S Reproducer with a small body like a Model-K. This reproducer has been verified as a genuine original Model-S small body reproducer by Steve Medved . It has also been rebuilt and tested by Steve. PM me with any questions or requests for additional pictures. Free Shipping is included. This I would be a great addition to anyone's reproducer collection.
First to say SOLD gets it.

Re: FOR SALE: Edison Model-S Reproducer (small body) - $350.
I am curious: what is the difference between this and a Model K?
From what I have read, the Model S, like the Model R, was supposed to combine the large diaphragm of the later reproducers with a lower body that would fit in the small, old style carriages.

Hi Bill, size wise there is no real difference between this and the Model-K. Steve Medved verified that this is an original Model-S that came from the factory with the small body rather than the larger body. So to someone who collects reproducers, like myself, this is a reproducer I would think they would want in their collection for its uniqueness. If it interests you make me an offer.

Just to clarify, I emailed with Steve and he said that he believes that this came from the factory for a few reasons (rather than actually verifying it), and I tend to agree.
He writes: "I believe it came from the factory that way as it had the thick, wide, red gaskets that Edison used in the 1920's along with a nickel plated diaphragm that was made in 1915 and later. The bars and stylus are like the mid 1920 K bars I have in my late K that was made around 1924. Edison used parts and never wasted. I could be wrong, but I believe it came from the factory that way. Those same wide, red gaskets were used on the last recorders made in 1924. Can I prove it? No I cannot. Do I believe it? Yes I do."
I have seen letters from the factory at this period saying that the didn;t have certain parts anymore, but they did have others. I believe they could have put this together during the 20s to sell to someone. Clarence Ferguson, the "last Edison dealer" used to get such early parts as he could from Edison in those last years. It is true, they wasted nothign! Interesting reproducer.

Yes you are completely right. Steve said that he had no reason to believe it did not come from the factory this way and that he believes it is original as stated in your post. That was my misuse of words saying verified original rather than believes it to be original. Sorry if this has caused you or anyone else a problem. My intention was not to mislead anyone but only to state that it is most likely original. Just curious, did you have interest in it?

No worries, it's not a problem at all. I had just never seen an S with a small body and it got me curious. I have an S at the moment, so I don't need another. Have yu had this S open? Do you know if it has the red gaskets? I've never seen those.

I know it's been a long time since this reproducer was posted for sale, but I'm new here and I figured maybe it can't hurt to ask:
By chance, is this still for sale? Or maybe you know of another Edison Model S Reproducer for sale?
