Princess records?
I won't say I thought I'd seen everything, but I've seen an awful lot; still, when I came across one of these in a box of discs I've had for who-knows-how-long, it was a new experience for me. How often do these turn up? Any idea how many titles they released? And has anyone ever seen one of the company's phonographs?

I have never come across a Princess record. As you can see on the label, it is a jewel ball type vertical cut record.

Re: Princess records?
It says "Sapphire Record" under the Princess label .
Sapphire record, Jewel type, Jewel ball, Sapphire record, etc. all basically mean the same thing. They are vertical type records not intended to be played with a steel needle.

Re: Princess records?
Very nice Zenger,
Yes, this is an early, vertical-cut record made in the 1910-1911 period. The company also produced the Princess Grand Opera Record and the Empire Sapphire Record. The company also sold Sonora universal-cut machines (branded as Princess), which were of Swiss manufacture (Paillard). Reference: American Record Companies and Producers (1888-1950), by Allan Sutton, @2018. The Princess machines I'm aware of were similar to the Sonora branded machine shown below.

Hope this helps,
Bob
