Electrola Identification

Post by Zkeener323 »

This is for sale near me and I’m tempted to go buy it but I don’t really have space. I’ve never seen one like this before, it appears to be one that is plugged into a radio. Does anyone know something about this, a model number perhaps?

Hi,

This was manufactured in 1931 and was Model T-5 End Table Electrola. Sold for $59.50. See the RCA Victor production sheet below for more information. By the way in all my years of collecting Electrolas this is the only the 2nd one of these T-5 models that I have now seen.

Best regards,

That's really interesting! My first thought was that it was cobbled together!
One would really have to bend over to operate this, if it's end table height.
I wish there was a reference book covering Electrolas in the 1930's!
Thanks for the scan.

I agree with Bob. I initially thought it was a cobble. Who knew? electrolaman 64, that's who! :coffee:

Thank you so much for the information! About a year ago I got a tabletop Electrola, and have gotten it up to spec over the last month. I enjoy it very much but I’ve really been wanting one of the full size models with a larger speaker. I’ll sleep on this for a few nights and make a decision. Buying this would finally push me to buy a nice console radio that I’ve been looking for to match my wireless Motorola changer. I’ll have to look at the dimensions again to see exactly how big or small this is.
