I saw the sign on Live Auctioneers and wondered why the middle was black.

Victor V-38535, Tommy Johnson, “Canned Heat Blues” (A) and “Big Fat Momma Blues” (B).

The record of which schweg posted a photo. Apparently it goes for quite a bit of money due to demand/rarity.

David

I found the original as well as some others I had made to swap out with Tommy Johnson.

Im not understanding the correlation of these records and the advertising piece i posted...unless what you guys are saying is that piece was used specifically to advertise those records....

Going to pick up an old Victrola shiping crate today. Completely intact...love the look of them.

the metal record was made for window displays since real records would warp and fade. some of them were made where you could insert another label. Stephen

The large record you have was the backdrop and the "labels" shown above were affixed to the backdrop as new titles were introduced. That way, Victor didn't need to make countless oversize records to introduce every new title. The dealer just swapped out the label pieces.

You could have some labels enlarged and reproduced as Schweg did, then you could display the sign as it was intended.
