Victor Electrola Hyperion E763 Talking Machine

I just looked the Hyperion up in "Look for the Dog". What a lovely machine. Only 2,092 made between 1926 and 1928. Wish we got those in Australia...

A great looking machine but is the radio correct? Isn't that a micro synconous tuning radio dial? Rather that the two drum dial that I thought was in use during 1926-28? I'm no expert on these I just remember seening an advert showing a tuning dial like the one on this hyperion and that was on a radio dating from 1930. Anyone know the answer to this question?

Looks like the original radio might have been upgraded/replaced, but hard to say. Possibly, some models went unsold and were upgraded later.

Looks like the legs may have been substantially shortened, unless you are only showing part of the cabinet:

That looks like the radio from an RE-45- like the one I used in the 9-55 posted earlier that had the radio side gutted out.

It's been "upgraded"

The Radiola 28 is gone, R-32 inserted, tone arm/pickup is changed, and it appears the legs have been cut down.

The $2.50 that Brianu mentioned in his post is pretty close to the value now.

The only differences that this model had, was in the speaker. The early versions used the simple cone speaker like a Model 100, the later used the electrodynamic Model 104 speaker.

MrsTaylor, can you tell us what sort of model number and serial number information is on the cabinet? It may be on a plate to the left of the turntable, on a plate under the turntable, or on a paper label somewhere else. That information may help us determine how this cabinet came to have this radio installed.
